Senior Software Engineer

Hextropian Systems is a Washington-based startup building a category-defining enterprise risk, governance, and compliance platform powered by custom neuro-symbolic AI systems.

Our platform evaluates incoming operational and business events against dozens to thousands of regulations in near real time to detect compliance issues, latent risk, and operational exposure. We work with highly regulated industries including Energy, Pharma Manufacturing, Banking, Biotech, and Food Safety.

We’re looking for a senior engineer who is fundamentally a systems thinker, someone who understands the entire stack through real experience, not just familiarity.

This role is for engineers who:

• Move extremely fast while maintaining engineering discipline
• Are comfortable working with AI-assisted development, but fully own correctness and quality
• Understand distributed systems, cloud-native deployments, operational safety, and production reliability
• Can operate effectively in highly parallelized engineering environments
• Are comfortable "owning" pieces of the stack while meeting at the API
• Are adaptable and willing to use the processes, methodologies, harnesses and toolchains already in place
• Care deeply about architecture, leverage, and outcomes

Our stack includes:

• Backend: Go, Rust, Python
• Frontend: TypeScript
• Infrastructure: Kubernetes, zero-trust deployment

Strong preference for candidates with:

• Software engineering or related technical degrees
• Experience in machine learning, data science, or data engineering
• Experience with LLM training or fine-tuning
• Experience with DSPy and its ports for Go, Rust and TypeScript, especially RLM and GEPA workflows
• Residency in the greater Seattle area, and willing to transition to hybrid office/remote work when the time comes

This is initially a contract role, with potential conversion to full-time depending on fit and upcoming fundraising milestones.
